BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi said Friday that the U.S. attempts to smear and slander China's political system and drive a wedge between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese people are doomed to fail.
Washington, with its questionable policies and deeds, is losing support globally and has been reprimanded by various UN bodies quite a few times.
The cooperation between the two countries has never been a case of one party giving favor to the other, or one party taking advantage of the other, said Wang.
"It is preposterous for the dirty-handed United States to preach a 'clean network,'" Wang said.
China is now working with the government and people of Fiji to build a comprehensive strategic partnership featuring mutual respect and common development, said Qian, adding the purpose of the visit is to explore the possibility for future cooperation.

After the national security legislation for Hong Kong was introduced this year, some U.S. politicians became more aggressive, passing the so-called "Hong Kong Autonomy Act" to malign the law, flagrantly interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's domestic affairs, and severely damaging the trust between the two countries.
The robust economic and trade relationship has supported around 2.6 million jobs in the United States across a range of industries, and over 72,500 U.S. companies have investments or business in China.
